ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
What does sustainable building mean? Is going green worth it? How can you build healthy, affordable, well-designed homes and facilities for your community? Join CCLF for a unique daylong session about the issues community developers face when they consider design and green building.
You will:
- Learn how to plan and develop energy-efficient & environmentally-friendly housing or facilities, without sacrificing good design.
- Find professional providers with green expertise.
- Hear about the challenges to affordable green design, and how public and private policies are changing.
- Learn about public and private grant programs and other resources used to write down the costs of building sustainably.
- Take a tour of the Chicago Center for Green Technology--the third building in the United States to be designed according to the LEED rating system using the highest standards of green technology available.
